The association

TheAssociazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani was founded in 1998 in Naples, where it still has its headquarters in order to protect and promote in the world the ancient Art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuolo and, with it, the set of gestures, procedures, and ingredients that respond to Neapolitan tradition and culture. In fact, the profession of Pizzaiuolo was considered unimportant to catering establishments, but it has succeeded in making the profession of Pizzaiuolo a gastronomic culture.

The association aims to protect the craft of pizza making, but above all to pass on the art to young people who have the pleasure and desire to approach this craft.

For us, pizza is not simply a food to be tasted, but the identity symbol of a people.

Therefore, we are convinced that the canons of this precious tradition of ours cannot be dispersed in a globalized world, but should be handed over intact to new generations.

The association has members all over the world, thanks in part to delegations with their own offices, which make the association recognized around the world.

It boasts offices in Australia, China, Korea, Croatia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, the United States, Switzerland and Taiwan. All representatives, delegates and members manage, even if they are not natives of Naples to practice respecting the canons as per tradition.

He has worked hard since then to keep faith with APN’s mission and achieve important milestones, including:

  • He gave the Neapolitan Pizza a defined identity, the Pizza Napoletana STG;
  • It obtained in December 2017 the recognition of “The Art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli” as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, thanks also to the collection of more than 2 million signatures to support the candidacy; Is part of the community that promoted and signed the candidacy dossier of “The Art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuolo” for inclusion in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is now one of the subjects that make up the Committee for the management and coordination of the aforementioned recognition, which took place on December 7, 2017, established at the Ministry of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies.
